Boston Show Review: Spears Is Running Hard With 'Circus'

As usual Lady Spears impresses the critics! Check this fairly good review by http://www.boston.com/

In show business they say anyone who's down is only one hit away from being back on top. Britney Spears, clawing back from one of the most pitiable meltdowns in recent pop culture history, put this theory to the test and came up winning, with hit single "Womanizer" and album "Circus."Last night the pop star did her victory lap at the TD Banknorth Garden in front of a sold-out crowd of 17,804 diehards who probably were never deterred by the head-shaving, paparazzi-dating, rehab-bailing detour.
From an entertainment standpoint there was little to gripe about as Spears rediscovered her stage legs and transformed the arena into Boston's hottest club for the night, complete with massive central stage, multiple costume changes, themed segments, and ceaseless stepping during throbbing hits like "Toxic" and "I'm a Slave 4 U."While Spears's 90-minute sprint was a true spectacle to behold, it was sometimes hard to locate her in it.
Besides the standard lip synching employed by active performers like Spears that adds a frisson of distance, there were upward of 20 people onstage at various times, as she marshaled a small army of dancers, acrobats, and clowns, and flash-cut video imagery to prop up her three-ring circus theme. (Not to mention members of the Big Apple Circus who covered various costume changes and performed an eye-popping pre-show.)In the opener alone, four people spun in rings above the stage and jets of steam blasted out in front of Spears and her crowd. If life-size picture frames weren't rising, chaise lounges were descending, martial artists were spinning, and contortionists were contorting.
Spears may have been the ringmaster, but the sheer number of marks she forced herself to hit in the performance seemed to drain any sense of spontaneity; she sometimes appeared more focused on mechanically getting to the next step than on enjoying the moment or connecting with the crowd. A "Freakshow" segment - complete with writhing dancers in lace and bondage gear, looking like extras who wandered in from "Sweeney Todd" - also slowed the show's momentum as Spears indulged her "I'm a big girl" sexuality a touch too long without goosing the energy with familiar songs. (She did nothing from her pre-2000 catalog with the exception of a funky remix of ". . . Baby One More Time.")In a recent MTV documentary, Spears decried her trapped animal life - re-created with blunt-force symbolism as a cage number for "Piece of Me" - and said that when she dances, she gets lost in the music.Last night she had a few of those sweet moments, where a genuine smile crept across her face, including during a Bollywood-inspired take on "Me Against the Music" and the funky stomp of new single "If You Seek Amy."A little more of that would have made Spears's comeback suggest she was actually enjoying being the main attraction in the center ring of the circus again.

Breatheheavy.com : Britney Has A Crush!

"Sources reveal to BreatheHeavy.com that Britney is currently crushing on one of her "Circus" tour backup dancers, Chase Benz.

"Britney loves everything about him," said the source. "She is attracted to him because he's sweet, southern, Christian, comes from great family and is a great dancer."

Uh oh, another dancer, Britney?

Chase, a Nashville-native, is flattered, but knows their relationship, at the moment, should remain professional."Britney is not going to take no for an answer."

Keep an eye out for him at tonight's show at the TD Banknorth Garden arena in Boston, Massachusetts."
